This Page/tassiedevil1.jpgOur mascot ‘Tassie Devil’ has had a hectic social schedule this month, making guest appearances at Threatened Species Day events in Hobart and Launceston.

Threatened Species Day 2011 marked 75 years since the death of the last Thylacine in captivity and the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program was represented at the Hobart City Council’s event at the old Hobart Zoo site and at an open day at Tasmania Zoo in Launceston, which included the opening of a Tasmanian devil interpretation centre.

Both events helped raise community awareness about the significance of the Tasmanian devil and the threat it faces. The events represented a great opportunity to provide information and to show that everyone has a part to play in the ongoing survival of our threatened native plants and animals.

Our new face masks were a huge hit with youngsters (and the not so young) and there were queues of patrons waiting for a high-five or hug from our Tassie Devil.
