Threatened Species Day
Published: 18/08/2011
National Threatened Species Day is held on 7 September each year to commemorate the loss of the last known Tasmanian tiger in captivity, which sadly occurred in Hobart in 1936. It was a tragic loss and we're working hard to make sure the Tasmanian devil doesn't follow in the tiger's footsteps.
We believe that, as a nation, we can learn from past mistakes. That is why we have chosen National Threatened Species Day as the signature annual event of the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal's fundraising efforts.
You can support us by running your own Threatened Species Day fundraiser. Whether you do a class project, hold a dress-up day, a morning tea or a raffle, every little bit helps.
Our target
To remember the loss of one of Tasmania's keystone species, we're calling for donations that commemorate the year 1936. Why not set yourself a donation target of:
$1936.00
$193.60 or
$19.36
